About the Boris Nemtsov Foundation Summer School
Named after Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov who was assassinated in 2015, the Boris Nemtsov Foundation aims to advance liberal democratic values and strengthen civil society across Russia and Europe. Every year they organize a two-week international Summer School that brings together students and young professionals from across Europe and Eurasia for an intensive program focused on issues like political leadership, civil society, media freedom, and more.
The 2024 Summer School will take place from August 5-18 in Stuttgart, Germany. All lectures, discussions, site visits, and cultural activities will be conducted in English to facilitate an international experience. Participants will have the unique opportunity to directly engage with prominent scholars, journalists, and civil society leaders from Russia, Germany, and other countries. The program also includes several excursions outside of Stuttgart to complement the curriculum.

Full Financial Support Available

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply, candidates must:
- Be between 18-30 years old
- Be a university student or young professional interested in issues of civil society, human rights, and democracy

Application Deadline and Process
The deadline to apply for the 2024 Summer School is March 15, 2024. All application materials must be submitted in English and include:
- A completed online application form
- A CV/resume
- A motivation letter (1 page max) explaining your interest in the program and previous relevant experience
- 1 reference letter addressing your qualification and character
Once submitted, all applications will be carefully reviewed by a selection committee who will choose the most talented and motivated candidates to participate. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-April.
