WhatsApp has introduced “Secret Code,” which allows users to lock specific chats for added privacy protection. To use this feature, open the chat you want to lock and go to the ‘Settings’ menu. Toggle on the ‘Lock Chat’ option. Then select whether to use your fingerprint, facial recognition, or a numeric password to unlock.
Once enabled, any time you want to read, reply, or make calls within that locked chat, WhatsApp will prompt you for your selected authentication method. No one will be able to access your messages even if your phone is unlocked, as they would need your biometric or password to open the chat.
This optional feature provides an important extra layer of security for sensitive discussions. It prevents others from viewing locked conversations if your phone is lost, stolen, or left unattended. The secret code strengthens WhatsApp’s privacy without being inconvenient, as your regular chats remain accessible without being unlocked.
